More than a Coach

For the past 3 years, Coach Combs has been a very valuable part of our community. He coaches PE and works as a high school soccer coach, putting everything he has into each class and game. Overall, he has had a positive impact on our Middle School community.

During PE, Coach Combs is often described as, “Really nice, super chill, and pretty awesome,” says eighth grade student Donovan Maloney. “My experience has been really good, he is a pretty cool teacher.” Even though Coach Combs has been here a short period of time, he has affected this school in great ways. Coach Combs not only coaches games, but also helps improve the talent in athletes during gym class. “When I first started softball, I couldn’t hit the ball for the life of me,” seventh grade student Lola Fulham-Fitzgerald says. “Now I can hit better.”

Outside of school, Coach Combs likes to grill out, do yard work, and play with his three kids. He is a very active person, and would describe himself as “Patient, calm, and athletic.” He tells us his favorite thing to do with a student is to “make them feel comfortable and confident enough to be able to perform in PE class or soccer programs.” He has helped many students achieve a better performance in the sports they play.

“When I first met Coach Combs, he was really nice to me and I really understood him,” says seventh grade student Henry Wenzel. Coach Combs has held a lasting impression with each student he meets, making sure that they feel seen. He has been a very valuable coach for the past 3 years, and we are excited to spend more time with him in the following ones!
