Montgomery Restaurant Reviews

By: Bhagya Ramineni and Hanyu Chen

This article is about a couple of suggested restaurants you should visit in Montgomery downtown!

Deeper Roots is a Cincinnati-based coffee shop. They have six locations across Cincinnati, including Oakley and Findlay Market. The Montgomery location is the fourth one, and it opened in late spring of 2024, so it is still pretty new. The coffee beans are imported from foreign places such as Guatemala. The pastries and baked goods are made in-house by pastry chef Megan Ketover.

Ratings:

Taste: Honey Bear Latte – 7/10

Why: The drink was too sour, and there was not a lot of coffee taste in it. It tasted perfect after putting some sugar in it, though.

Atmosphere: 9/10

Why: The area was clean, new, and modern.

Employees: 10/10

Why: They were very welcoming. Also, they gave us good suggestions.

What we got

Honey Bear Latte – $5

The Honey Bear Latte has locally sourced honey, cinnamon, and steamed milk.

European Café

European Café is a little place for breakfast/brunch. The café reopened in July of 2021 after some renovation. They serve baked goods, pastries, coffee, and sandwiches.

Ratings:

Taste: Pastries and drinks – 9/10

Why: The croissants were very buttery and crunchy. The lemon bar and coffee cakes were also tasty because they were fresh from the oven. The Italian sodas were delicious, and they looked fancy as well. A tip for the sodas would be to stir before drinking it though, so you can get the full flavor.

Atmosphere: 7/10

Why: There weren’t enough tables so they had community tables which is a big table where around 6 people sit together. This made it so that there was less privacy. But, there were also outdoor tables, so that was nice.

Employees: 8.5/10
