The Seven Hills varsity soccer team is led by their coach Mr. Combs. He is also a middle school gym class teacher and middle school basketball coach. His assistant coach is Omar Cummings and he is a great coach.
Before Mr. Combs came to Seven Hills he also coached Cincinnati State for 14 years and also coached Mason High School, where he had a three-year record of 43-9-4. While at Mason High School he won Coach of the Year twice. Now he is coaching the Seven Hills soccer team which have just started their season. As of September 12 they are 3-4-1. According to a Seven Hills article Mr.Combs said, “The opportunity to teach and coach at this phenomenal school will allow me the greatest opportunity to make a positive impact on our student-athletes and lead a program that the athletic department and the Seven Hills community will be proud of.”
Everret Rinaldi, one of the players on the varsity team said, “Coach Combs is one of the best coaches I’ve been able to surround myself with in the soccer world. However, he doesn’t coach alone, our assistant coach Omar Cummings is stellar.” Last season Rinaldi scored 24 goals and got 23 assists and led Seven Hills to an 18-3 season. Also, Everett Rinaldi scored 38 goals and 39 assists in total according to gostingers.com.
The assistant coach for the seven hills varsity team is Omar Cummings. Omar Cummings was just inducted into Cincinnati University Hall of Fame in 2024 and he was a former professional soccer player for FC Cincinnati, San Antonio Scorpions, and Houston Dynamo.
Coach Combs said why he left Cincinnati State for Seven Hills. “ I only left Cincinnati State due to the college eliminating all athletics due to budget reasons. Our college program was one of the best in the country for 14 years that I was the head coach there. We won 12 conference championships. Nationally ranked in all 14 seasons. We lost the national championship down in Texas back in 2010. I recruited and coached 5 players that ended up being drafted in the MLS SuperDraft. 2 players ended up playing for the National Teams. It was a great program!”
Overall Seven Hills Varsity soccer is a great program! The coaches and players all play a big part in the team’s success.
