They welcome new and old students and are always nice to everyone around them. Seven Hills overall is a very sweet and caring community that is nice to everyone no matter who they are. “When I came to shadow the people were very nice and welcoming,” said Dagny Jones, an 8th grader. This shows how the community makes people feel when they walk into the building.“ I feel like it makes everyone welcomed, included and feel like they belong. And they focus on mental health which I like,” said Audrey, an 8th grader. This shows that Audrey loves the community and what they focus on. “ I love that it is very friendly to new students and old,” said Ani Weller, a 9th grader.

Move up Day

Move up day was really fun for the 8th graders to experience.“Move up day was really really fun,” said Dagny Jones. She liked that she could ask the high schoolers questions and then based off their answers figure out what it would be like. “They didn’t just sure coat everything, they showed you the real experiences,” says Dagny Jones. But Sarah Olowokure has other things to say about move up day. She thought move up day was ok and that the classes seemed very complicated compared to middle school classes. “I just think the classes seemed a bit difficult and a bit more advanced,” said Sarah Olowokure.

Sarah’s and Dagny’s favorite thing about move up day was ice cream. “My favorite thing about move up day was probably the ice cream,” said Sarah Olowokure. She really loved that ice cream was included and that they had Cookie Dough. “I got to talk to the high schoolers and they made me feel a lot less stressed about high school so now I can overcome the fears that I had towards high school and now I have much more of an open mind towards high school,” said Dagny Jones. Dagny and Sarah also expressed concern about move up.“I would say more games maybe or more entertainment maybe, because that is how middle school students get invested,” said Sarah Olowokure. This makes us understand how she really felt about move up day and that it was good overall but just to change a bit. “Maybe if I could have more time talking with the high schoolers and if you got to choose the classes to go to,” said Dagny Jones.

Homework

Homework in high school can be difficult depending on the week Grafton Combs said, “ It kinda depends on the teacher. It depends on the subject too,”. He feels like it depends on the week and the class. “Homework is a bit heavier, but not that bad,” according to Bianca. Does the homework get harder and more stressful through the years? “Yes, but most of it comes in the form of long term projects, essays and slide shows,” said Nick Stein.

Test, Quizzes, Exams

According to Bianca Patel tests and quizzes don’t get harder.“I feel like it’s about the same,” according to Bianca Patel. Once you get used to the high school amount of tests and quizzes it helps you do better in highschool. For the exams there are two exams for each class each year, midterms and finals. And Grafton Combs has a similar opinion about tests and quizzes as Bianca Patel. “Some weeks it’s a lot and some weeks it’s not as much,”says Grafton Combs. He feels like sometimes it’s hard while others aren’t. So I guess the tests and quizzes aren’t as hard as we are making it seem.

Classes

Bianca Patel feels like classes in high school are perfectly challenging as a freshman. “ I think they’re perfectly challenging,” according to Bianca Patel. Classes in high school may seem hard at some moments but once you get used to it, top time management classes should be easier. Some classes may be boring but others will probably be a lot more fun. Freshman year may be easier than the rest but if you get used to the classes it will probably be a lot easier. The classes in highschool have a lot of work sometimes but once you get used to it it will be a lot easier.

High School Life

“I enjoy being in high school,” said Bianca Patel. Bianca Patel likes being in high school and she likes how the high school has more freedom. “I like high school better because there’s more freedom and free time,” said Kavan Vadivelu. This shows again that most high school students feel like there is a lot more freedom in high school. According to Kavan Vadivelu he feels like he likes high school a lot better than middle school. People may not like high school in the beginning but they may after their first year. Overall you shouldn’t be worried about high school life because high school will probably be the best years of your life.

By: Naya Patel and Courtney Klein Seven Hills Community The Seven Hills community is a very welcoming and caring place for students.
