Assistant coach Clemens feels good about this year’s boy’s tennis team. Coach Clemens stated that \u201cThis looks to be a good year for our team,\u201d Mr. Clemens said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s boys tennis season has just begun and according to Salil Gupta, an eighth grade player, they are \u201ccooking\u201d their opponents.\u201d The season is going very well, and all boys are undefeated in their matches. Confidence is an important factor of being an athlete and our boys tennis team definitely has a lot.<\/p>\n\n\n

Knowing where areas of improvement are needed is essential to a team. Salil likes to \u201ccelebrate\u201d but he wants to work on \u201cbeing nice to my opponents\u201d and having better sportsmanship. Patrick wants to improve on his skills and \u201cbe better.\u201d Devin just started playing so he\u2019s not sure what he needs to improve on yet. Will Stock wants to \u201cimprove on my back hand stroke.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At first Salil didn\u2019t want to play tennis but after playing he enjoys being on the team. \u201cI play tennis because my dad made me, but now I like it,\u201d Salil said. Good teammates make the team more enjoyable for everyone. Will Stock joked \u201cI gotta work on my summer bod.\u201d Coach Clemens and first grade teacher at Doherty Coach Ackerman are the team\u2019s coaches for the year. Patrick Williams describes their coaching style as \u201cinteresting and unique\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The coaches create a fun and helpful environment at practice. Coach Clemens stated that \u201cthe challenge is to ensure every player gets a chance to improve their skills and give them competitive match play.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are off to a great start,\u201d said eighth grader Will Stock. Will and Devin are doubles and are currently undefeated. Coach Clemens said \u201cthis team has a really great range of skill levels and they have brought their best to match play.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will also added that the coaches \u201care really great and can always help us have a good time.\u201d Clemens offers a very unique and effective coaching style. \u201cMy coaching style is to shape practice around having fun and improving skills that will improve players\u2019 match play.\u201d Taye added \u201cthey are good at teaching and they make it fun.\u201d A successful team needs good, helpful coaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The boys work very well together as a team. \u201cThe boys team had fewer returning players, but I have been happy to see them come together and enjoy getting out on the courts to play,\u201d Coach Clemens said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The team is committed to going to practices and giving their best effort in matches. Coach Ackerman thinks, \u201cThis team is full of energy!\u201d The coaches enjoy having this strong group of boys. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
