{"id":310,"date":"2023-01-11T18:58:26","date_gmt":"2023-01-11T18:58:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/7hillshive.org\/?p=310"},"modified":"2023-01-11T19:07:33","modified_gmt":"2023-01-11T19:07:33","slug":"more-than-a-teacher","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/7hillshive.org\/?p=310","title":{"rendered":"More Than A Teacher"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>By Sylvie Gumlaw, Winnie Brennan, and Tess Nelson&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So far, Mrs. Cruts has described her experience at Seven Hills as \u201cpretty slick.\u201d She is new to the Seven Hills community, and she teaches Algebra to eighth graders and high schoolers at Seven Hills.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mrs. Cruts knew she wanted to be a teacher because she \u201calways liked tutoring and teaching.\u201d Growing up, she always helped her friends with homework. She became a middle and high school teacher because \u201cI always liked high schoolers and middle schoolers, and that was the age group I wanted to teach,\u201d Cruts said. She would come in every other day to the school to teach her classes. But then she was offered another course, and now she comes in every day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mrs. Cruts is not only a teacher. Outside of school, she plays on volleyball teams known as \u201cEmpire Spikes Back\u201d and \u201cSetters of Catan.\u201d She also collects board games with her husband, Brian. Her favorite board game to play is Gloomhaven.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She has a pizza oven, and one of her favorite things on weekends involves making homemade pizza. Suppose Mrs. Cruts could live anywhere in the world. She would live in Italy with her family to \u201ceat all of the pizza\u201d and \u201clearn from them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her biggest pet peeve inside the classroom is talking while the teacher is talking because it distracts others and herself. But she makes her classroom educational as well as fun. \u201cMrs. Cruts keeps us engaged because she is funny, and we do activities instead of only notes,\u201d said Julia Lee, an eighth-grade student.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She also enjoys collecting many things, including; squishmallows and plants, and reading books on her kindle.
